From Motiti to the World: My Journey Back Home

I'm from a small island known as Motiti, a hidden gem where I was fortunate to be raised living an off-grid lifestyle. As an adult, I worked hard to build a career as a cook, gaining valuable experience both here in New Zealand and across the waters in Australia.

Eventually, after years of hustle and growth, I made the heartfelt decision to return to Motiti and embrace the simplicity and beauty of life here. After three years back on the island, I discovered an opportunity to make the most of what we have on the land, particularly our fennel, and began to explore ways to utilize this resource to its full potential.

It’s been a rewarding journey of reconnecting with my roots while finding new ways to thrive in harmony with my surroundings.
